KRRI took part in the 2004 Science Fair held in COEX between
July 23~28 sponsored by Korea Science Foundation. Marking its 8th
event since 1997 when it first kicked off, the technology show came
up with a wide variety of programs under the major theme of  the
Bright Future, Science Korea . The two huge halls were laid with
exhibitions on science technology, hands-on activities, counseling
on college entrance in the field of science and engineering and
lectures on science, in association with industries, schools and
R&D institutes.

Luring over 200,000 people each year, the exhibition is now considered
a powerful science feast with around 400 programs from 140 local
participants and seven outsiders such as China, Israel and Japan.

Under the subject title of  Technology on faster and safer
railroads harmonized with human being , KRRI opened an exhibition
booth within the pavilion titled  Science and technology for
a better decade ahead . Presented out there were state-of-the-art
technologies on high speed rail, light transit rail and standardized
urban transit rail. A senior researcher has been dispatched to the
booth as acting ambassador and to provide visitors with a comprehensive
guide in person.

Visitors made a long queue to try ride the 6-axised tilting train
simulator where they learned how it worked hands-on. They were also
interested in folding paper HSR models along with comic books in
which illustrate the railroad technology making a friendly approach.
In a bid to make one step forward, KRRI is envisioning plans to
develop and carry out more fun-oriented science programs that can
reach out to the public especially to kids.
